Pete & Sophie Win Big with Gogglebox

Tremaine, Twaine, and Tristan, alongside Pete and Sophie Sandiford from Gogglebox, celebrated their win for Best Entertainment Show at the TRIC Awards 2022, held at Grosvenor House in London on Wednesday, 6th July. The couple, known for their charming presence on the Channel 4 series, dazzled on the blue carpet as Gogglebox triumphed at the prestigious TV awards. The Sandifords, siblings from Blackpool, made their way to the event in central London, joining fellow television and radio personalities. All smiles, they were thrilled to see their beloved show recognised with the accolade for Best Entertainment Show. For many, one of the highlights of Gogglebox has been the endearing sibling duo, Pete and Sophie Sandiford, who have become synonymous with the warmth and humour of Blackpool. With their sharp, witty banter and unmistakable Fylde Coast accents, the pair have captured the hearts of the nation. Their dynamic personalities and natural camaraderie make them fan favourites, and millions of viewers tune in each week, eager for a laugh. The Sandifords’ unfiltered personalities and infectious energy shine through, but they manage to keep their private lives relatively under wraps, giving viewers only a glimpse into their world.

Since joining Gogglebox in 2017, Pete and Sophie have offered brief insights into their home life, though their social media posts suggest that appearances on the show might not tell the whole story. Their 595k followers regularly get peeks into the living room, a space dominated by neutral tones—beige, white, and grey—punctuated by a vibrant mustard yellow armchair and matching footstool. This chair, which has become Sophie’s main seat on the show, contrasts against the large grey sofa where Pete often sits, crammed into one corner. Yet, it turns out this living room isn’t as it seems; the sofa, which appears small on the show, looks much larger in photos Sophie has posted, with the background featuring a rustic brick-effect wall that seemingly dwarfs Pete. In these images, the walls also appear taller, giving the illusion of a room with higher ceilings than what is seen on screen. A particularly intriguing post features Sophie watching herself and Pete on the show, sitting in her signature mustard chair—suggesting that the scene we see on TV might be more staged than we realise.

Perhaps the most lavish part of their home, however, is the kitchen, which never appears on Gogglebox but has been shared on Sophie’s social media. In a series of photos and videos, Pete can be seen having fun in the modern kitchen, which features sleek appliances including a large grey fridge-freezer with a water dispenser, a double oven, and well-lit white cupboards. The room has a contemporary feel, with matching stools around a breakfast bar and large French doors opening out onto the garden, offering a serene view for morning meals. It’s clear from these glimpses that the Sandifords’ kitchen is as stylish as it is functional. And if you thought the kitchen was the highlight, think again—Pete and Sophie’s most talked-about feature might just be their ever-growing collection of novelty mugs. Sophie has shared a picture of their dedicated mug cupboard, which reveals the extent of their obsession. Fans of the show may have noticed the quirky mugs appearing in episodes, but Sophie’s post made it clear just how extensive their collection really is.
