The opening of the Spyglass Bar offers a sneak peek into what Blackpool’s £30 million Sands Venue Resort Hotel will bring when it eventually opens on the Promenade. Although the hotel itself remains unfinished, the £600,000 Spyglass Bar began welcoming guests on 26 August 2021. Despite a £10 million loan from Blackpool Council, the hotel project has faced delays due to ongoing disputes between the developers and contractors. Developer Peter Swann, along with the hotel’s official website, maintains that the Sands Venue Resort will be Blackpool’s first five-star hotel, offering a luxury spa, gym, conference rooms, valet parking, and stunning views over the Irish Sea.
In the meantime, the Spyglass Bar provides a glimpse into the hotel’s future style. With its relaxed bistro pub vibe, it has quickly become a popular spot for visitors to unwind, enjoy hand-crafted cocktails, and savour a selection of tapas. The bar features TV screens showcasing live sports and events, while both indoor and outdoor seating areas create a welcoming space to socialise, especially on sunny days. The décor is inspired by the glamour of Blackpool’s 1930s promenade, evoking the vibrant atmosphere of the area’s historic mix of restaurants, bars, arcades, and attractions.
While you’re there, be sure to visit Blackpool’s Showtown Museum, located within the same building—a fascinating attraction that’s sure to impress.
