Pauline Moran in The She Trinity

Pauline Moran, born on 26 August 1947 in Blackpool, is an actress, presenter, and astrologer, best known for portraying Miss Felicity Lemon in the long-running British television series Agatha Christie’s Poirot. Moran’s acting career spans several decades, and she has built a reputation as a talented stage performer, though her film and television appearances are also noteworthy. She trained at prestigious institutions, including the National Youth Theatre and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), preparing for a successful career in the performing arts. In addition to her acting work, Moran is a professional astrologer, having practiced since 1987, blending her artistic background with her interest in the mystical and spiritual. Her acting credits include films such as The Good Soldier (1981), The Woman in Black (1989), Byron (2003), and A Little Chaos (2014). She also appeared in the 1983 TV series The Cleopatras, further showcasing her versatility across genres.

Before her career in acting and astrology, Moran had a passion for music. From 1965 to around 1970, she played bass guitar in the all-female rhythm group The She Trinity. The band, formed by self-taught musicians, was composed of Blackpool girls including Moran, Janet Bailey (drums), and Andrea Hine (lead guitar). The group’s music ambitions were as high as Blackpool Tower itself, and they wrote some of their own songs. Originally, The She Trinity was formed with Canadian members Robyn Yorke, Shelley Gillespie, and Sue Kirby. The British members later added Pauline Moran on bass and Marion “Rusty” Hill on keyboards. After several lineup changes, including the departure of Shelley and Sue, the band settled on a final 1967 configuration, which included Moran on bass, Robyn Yorke on drums, Eileen Woodman on keyboards, Barbara Thompson on saxophone, and Beryl Marsden as the lead vocalist. In 1970, the band disbanded after a final lineup shift with Swedish guitarist Inger Jonnsson joining before the group dissolved.

Moran’s diverse career as an actress, musician, and astrologer reflects her broad talents and interests, with each phase contributing to her reputation in the British entertainment industry.
