Raine Davison, born on 25 January 1984 in Blackpool, is an actress best known for her roles in Emmerdale (2001–2002), Cutting It (2002), and Holby City (1999). She attended Arnold School in Blackpool before embarking on her acting career. In 2002, at the age of 18, she landed the lead role in the festive pantomime Cinderella at the Preston Guild Hall. She mentioned in interviews that she was excited for the opening night and had been preparing by taking singing lessons and rehearsing her lines. Raine had previously only done school theatre work, so this was a significant step in her stage career. Her parents, Jan and Steve Brett, are both known in the local cabaret scene, often performing pop star impressions from the ’50s and ’60s, which Raine has admitted could be a bit embarrassing when friends visited.
On screen, Raine is perhaps most remembered for her role as Eve Birch in Emmerdale, a character involved in some dramatic and intense storylines, such as killing her dog and teacher, and sending her boyfriend to jail. This contrasted sharply with her portrayal of Abbie Butcher in Crossroads, where she played a more stereotypically “girlie” character, very different from Eve’s darker persona. After living in Leeds during her time on Emmerdale, Raine was happy to return to Blackpool, enjoying the comforts of home. However, Blackpool Timeline does not have much information on Raine’s career after her appearances in pantomimes, leaving her post-2000s career somewhat unclear.
