Tim Burton’s Illuminations and Filming in Blackpool

Famous for iconic films such as Edward Scissorhands, Batman, Alice in Wonderland, Beetlejuice and The Nightmare Before Christmas, Tim Buton filmed his then latest masterpiece – Miss Peregrine’s School for Peculiar Children on Blackpool’s seafront. It meant that the promenade had to be closed from Chapel street to Talbot Road on 8 May 2015. Actors Samuel L Jackson, Dame Judi Dench and Eva Green starred in this film, which came out the following year. Tim Burton came back a few months later to switch on the illuminations at Blackpool iFest on the Promenade. With something to keep every member of the family entertained, Visit Blackpool put together various activities and events that year. On the Friday evening that weekend, Tim Burton switched the lights on. There were also performances from chart-topping UK acts including Lawson, Professor Green, Toploader and Little Boots with special headliners The Vamps. Friday night is sure to be full of fun, so get your dancing shoes ready and prepare yourself for an evening full of pop tunes and amazing light displays.
