In 2001, Brian and Ryan Wholey, former hauliers, founded TISS Security Systems in Blackpool with the vision of providing innovative security solutions for the transport and haulage industry. Specialising in fuel security products, TISS quickly made a name for itself by developing cutting-edge technology to address rising concerns over theft and illegal immigration within the sector. In 2002, TISS was located on Lytham Road in South Shore, Blackpool. In that same year the company was recognised for it’s rapid growth and entrepreneural success and honoured as the Fylde’s Entrepreneur of the Year at the Guardian Angel Entrepreneurs Network awards, held at the Garstang Country Hotel and Golf Club. The award came with a £5,000 prize and was in recognition of TISS’s groundbreaking development of an electronic security device for curtain-sided trailers. This innovative solution helped transport companies protect their valuable cargo from theft and prevent the illegal smuggling of immigrants, a significant issue facing the industry at the time.
Over the years, TISS has built a global reputation for its security products, particularly its TankSafe brand. The TankSafe product line specialises in fuel security solutions, offering transport companies and hauliers peace of mind in safeguarding their fuel tanks from tampering and theft. With TankSafe becoming synonymous with reliability and trust in the global transport industry, TISS recently made the strategic decision to rebrand the company entirely under the TankSafe name. When discussing the rebrand, Ryan Wholey explained that the decision to adopt the TankSafe name more fully was driven by the brand’s established reputation and the recognition it had earned within the transport sector. This rebrand reflects the company’s growth, its continued innovation in fuel security, and its commitment to providing high-quality, trusted solutions to the haulage industry worldwide.
