Coyote Ugly Saloon was established in New York City in 1993 by Liliana Lovell, who set out to create a bar that defied convention. Her vision produced an atmosphere that combined unrestrained energy with a touch of wild west theatricality. The original venue, known for its bartenders dancing on the bar to pounding music, became an icon of American nightlife. The release of the film Coyote Ugly in 2000 propelled the brand to global recognition, transforming a single New York bar into an international phenomenon. Over the following decades, Coyote Ugly expanded across the United States and later into overseas markets, each new venue maintaining the original blend of exuberance, performance and informal camaraderie. In the United Kingdom the brand adapted its concept to local audiences while retaining the signature Coyote Ugly character—dynamic interiors, themed events, and a celebratory approach to hospitality.
The Blackpool branch of Coyote Ugly opened on 25 October 2024 within the former Revolution bar on the Promenade, close to North Pier. The launch event, widely reported in the Blackpool Gazette, featured professional dancers performing on the bar and complimentary chocolate-rum tastings for guests. The arrival of the brand marked a new phase in the town’s evolving nightlife, linking the resort to an internationally recognised entertainment franchise. Coyote Ugly Saloon’s presence in the United Kingdom now extends beyond Blackpool, with venues in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Liverpool, Swansea and Camden in London. Each retains the distinctive spirit of the original New York saloon while integrating modern elements such as bottomless brunches, themed parties and VIP table service.
Three decades after its foundation, Coyote Ugly continues to represent a unique combination of showmanship and social energy. In Blackpool—where performance and spectacle have long defined the town’s cultural identity—the brand has found a fitting home, merging an American tradition of lively bar entertainment with the enduring appeal of the British seaside experience.
