Farmer Parrs Tractor Shed Bistro, Jumping Pillows, Museum and Animal World

Farmer Parrs Tractor Shed Bistro is a family owned and run fully licensed restaurant in Fleetwood that opened in 2019. They serve sumptuous breakfasts and elegant lunches – all in a beautiful setting. Light, bright, spacious and stylish. The Tractor Shed Bistro is the perfect location to meet friends and family or to impress business associates. They have also brought back their very popular Sunday Lunches. Tasty roast dinners served from 12pm-3.30pm every Sunday between September and April.

But there’s so much more to see and do at Farmer Parrs. They have the fabulous museum called the Fylde Country Life Heritage Centre, which is set out in 10,000 square feet of farm buildings. Blackpool Timeline has so much more about this to see, just click HERE.

There’s so much more that makes Farmer Parrs the ideal place to bring your children. They look after many species of animals as well as traditional farm animals and British rare breeds. They also have Alpacas, a mammal from South America, closely related to the Llama, and prized for its FABULOUS coat. Their Alpacas live alongside their Llamas and Sheep. They have a lovely family of alpacas and occasionally have a birth too!

Farmer Parr’s was previously a dairy farm with over 300 cattle. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s they delivered a wide range of dairy products across the Blackpool and Fylde. The Parr family love their COWS especially Eric their Jersey Bullock. You can see Eric and his friends everyday when you visit Farmer Parrs Animal World. They have a mixed assortment of chickens and traditional red hens, rare breed Silkies, Brabanters, giant Brahmas and even some interesting cross breeds. All their chickens are well looked after, and super friendly. Farmer Parrs hold regular talks about their chickens, encouraging their visitors to handle the chicks, stoke their hens, collect the eggs and feed them corn. In spring they normally have chicks hatching in their incubator. EGGS-citing!

On the farm they have a small herd of Red Deer. The Red Deer are one of the largest deer species. It is a ruminant, eating its food in two stages and having an even number of toes on each hoof, like camels, goats and cattle. Their deer spend a large amount of the time out in the paddocks before joining them onsite each December for the festive celebrations. Red Deer are normally very shy, but their herd love visitors. Make sure you feed them animal food as you explore Farmer Parrs Animal World.

Farmer Parrs has 2 miniature donkeys, Annie and Bobby. They are very close and are impossible to separate. They don’t go un-noticed due to their vocal nature and regular braying. Typical of donkeys they are strong, friendly and well-behaved. They have also been known to help out with the live nativity at Christmas time and live next to Santa’s Grotto during December. A firm favourite with many visitors!

They have a selection of different ducks at the farm. They are not overly keen on water and most prefer to stay dry. They also have wild ducks living very happily on their large ponds. The ducks like to hatch a few ducklings in springtime – so waddle on over!

Farmer Parrs has a small ‘business’ of ferrets at the farm. They are very playful, inquisitive, mischievous and sadly also rather smelly! Ferrets are crepuscular, which means they spend 14–18 hours a day asleep and are most active around the hours of dawn and dusk. Unlike their polecat ancestors, which are solitary animals, ferrets will live happily in social groups. They are territorial, like to burrow and prefer to sleep in an enclosed area.

You will find our Geese on one of the ponds here at Farmer Parrs. They like to wander free and are very tame. They do however like to nibble on coats and boots. If ewe see them wandering about be sure not to chase them! They love to help the wild ducks raise their ducklings every year and are very protective of the little ones – it’s very cute.

Farmer Parr’s has a large number of African Pygmy Goats. They are well known as the NAUGHTIEST ANIMALS ON THE FARM!! They are very loyal to each other and at night will always sleep with their original family members, despite mixing with many other goats throughout the day. They are mischievous, cheeky and due to their love of climbing they do escape from time to time. They are also greedy and a firm favourite with visitors. Their babies are born every summer. In 2021 Farmer Parrs introduced Boer Goats and Anglo-Nubian Goats to the tribe – no kidding!

There are many Guinea Pigs at Farmer Parrs!!! They are very vocal creatures and are always in conversation, with an excellent nose for food. They love their daily selection of veg! “SQEEEK” Despite their name, these animals are not pigs, nor do they come from Guinea – they originated in the Andes mountain range in South America. We always aim to have several litters of pups born throughout the year. Our visitors can handle our Guinea Pigs during activities such as: Meet the Small Animals and our famous Animal Show.

The horses on the farm all get on well together. In the large animal barn, Farmer Parrs keep its Falabella (miniature horses) and their Shetland pony ‘Thomas’. The bigger horses live in Stable Row. Their diet has to be monitored carefully – so please don’t feed them. Farmer Parrs offers Pony Grooming and Pony Rides as part of their fantastic animal activity timetable. ITS GREAT FUN – SO GALLOP ON OVER!

Their Peacocks live in their own aviary, as it is very difficult to keep track of them if they roam free. Marvel at the male Indian Peafowl’s blue-green or green coloured plumage. The so-called “tail” of the peacock, also termed the “train,” has a series of eyes that are best seen when the tail is fanned. The female Indian Peafowl has a mixture of dull green, brown, and grey in their plumage. They lack the long upper tail coverts of the male but have a crest. The female can also display her plumage to ward off female competition or danger to her young.

Sheep are mammals typically kept as livestock. A female is referred to as a ewe, a breading male as a tup, a castrated male as a wether and a young sheep as a lamb. Lambing season is one of Farmer Parrs favourite times, especially when they have to help bottle feed any pet lambs. BAAA-rilliant! There is a varied selection of sheep for visitors to pet and feed including some rare breeds like Black Face Valais sheep. EWE will love them!

After meeting the animals, Fartmer Parrs gives your children a chance to blow off a little steam and get some terrific exercise on the Jumping Pillows, the first of their kind on the Fylde Coast.

And there’s plenty of FREE PARKING!
