Why Lucky B’s Chose Blackpool for Its First English Venue

Lucky B’s Hot Chicken has expanded to Blackpool, marking their first venture outside of Scotland. The new restaurant, located at 53 Whitegate Drive, was set to open on July 20th 2025, and it did – of a fashion. But customers had to be turned away as the restaurant had some problems with its electrics. The weather was much better the following day and it seemed half of the town was there. There were plenty of staff on hand to keep the food flowing and the customers happy. This expansion of the restaurant franchise has been spearheaded by Ross Fairbairn, a multi-unit Subway franchisee who is also the master franchisee for Lucky B’s in Lancashire.

Lucky B’s Hot Chicken was founded by best friends and business partners Giancarlo Celino and Toni Dobrenko after being inspired by a trip to the United States. During their travels, they discovered the bold, spicy flavours of Nashville-style fried chicken and decided to bring the concept back to the UK. With both founders already well-established in the food industry—having created several award-winning brands spanning fish and chips, fresh pasta, burgers, and pizza—they saw an opportunity to introduce something truly different to the British fast-food scene.

Determined to perfect their recipe, Giancarlo and Toni spent weeks experimenting with flavours, marinades, and cooking methods until they created what they describe as “the juiciest and most tender fried chicken on the planet.” Their signature process involves marinating chicken in buttermilk and a blend of secret ingredients for 24 hours to ensure maximum flavour and tenderness. Each piece is then coated in their unique house dredge, fried until perfectly crispy and golden, and finished with a layer of Nashville-inspired spices for that signature fiery kick.
