PLAY Expo is the UK’s longest running and most popular retro games expo, and it returns for 2025 to the Norbreck Castle for its 15th year!
The event promises to be an unmissable event for gaming enthusiasts, offering a comprehensive celebration of gaming culture spanning decades. Organised by Replay Events, this expo is not only the UK’s longest-running retro gaming show but also a haven for gamers, collectors, and industry professionals. The event will take place on October 4–5, 2025, at the Norbreck Castle Exhibition Centre, a popular location in Blackpool that has hosted numerous large-scale gaming and entertainment events. Attendees can look forward to a treasure trove of classic consoles like the Sega Mega Drive, SNES, and Atari 2600, along with rare and iconic retro games that defined generations. Fully functional arcade machines will be available, offering authentic old-school gaming experiences with titles ranging from classics like Pac-Man and Space Invaders to rare gems. For pinball enthusiasts, a dedicated area will feature machines from various eras.
The event will also showcase independent game developers and their latest projects, providing opportunities to interact with creators and try games before their release. Modern gaming will have its place too, with stations featuring the latest consoles like the PS5, Xbox Series X, and high-end PCs, as well as previews of cutting-edge games and emerging gaming technologies. Gaming tournaments will cater to both casual players and hardcore competitors, featuring classic and modern titles across genres such as fighting games, shooters, and sports games. Special guests, including industry legends, game developers, YouTubers, and streamers, will make appearances for Q&A sessions, panels, and autograph opportunities.
A sprawling marketplace will offer retro gaming hardware, rare games, collectibles, artwork, and merchandise. Vendors specialising in hard-to-find gaming gear will also be present. Attendees are encouraged to participate in cosplay contests, with prizes for the best costumes, and hands-on workshops will include activities like building arcade sticks, coding mini-games, and repairing retro hardware. Cutting-edge virtual reality gaming setups will provide an immersive experience. The event will create opportunities to meet like-minded gaming fans, share stories, and compete in friendly matches, with dedicated areas for gaming clubs and groups to connect.
