Commissioned by Lady Clifton in memory of her aunt, Anne, it served the small hamlet of Heyhouses\u2014then a few miles from Lytham\u2014and soon became the centre around which the planned town of St Annes developed. <strong>The settlement eventually took its name from the church<\/strong> and became an independent parish in 1877, with the church playing a pivotal role in the area\u2019s social and spiritual growth.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"766\" data-end=\"1067\">As the town expanded, the Parish Rooms were added to meet the growing need for community space.
