The Blackpool Vehicle Preservation Group (BVPG) is a long-established community of motoring enthusiasts founded in 1982. Based on the Fylde Coast, the group celebrates all aspects of vehicle history and preservation, welcoming members with a wide range of interests\u2014from vintage and classic cars to motorbikes, commercial, and even military vehicles. Some members own lovingly restored machines, while others simply share a passion for the engineering and heritage behind them.<\/p>\n

BVPG is best known for hosting two major vehicle shows each year across Blackpool and the Fylde. These events have become highlights of the local calendar, attracting enthusiasts and families alike. One of the most popular is the annual summer show held at Stanley Park<\/strong><\/a>, where hundreds of exhibits are displayed\u2014spanning nearly a century of motoring history, from the 1920s to the present day. Visitors can admire a dazzling variety of vehicles, including polished classics, vintage motorcycles, and historically significant military transport.<\/p>\n

Each event is also a friendly competition. Judges move through the exhibits, awarding points for authenticity, presentation, and restoration skill, culminating in a series of trophies presented to the most impressive entrants. The atmosphere is one of camaraderie and shared enthusiasm, with exhibitors and visitors exchanging stories and technical know-how throughout the day.<\/p>\n

The 2025 Stanley Park show, held on 24 August, featured a special appearance by the George Formby Society<\/strong><\/a>, who entertained the crowds with their trademark ukulele performances\u2014adding a nostalgic touch to the day\u2019s festivities.<\/p>\n

Today, the Blackpool Vehicle Preservation Group remains a vibrant and inclusive club, keeping the region\u2019s motoring heritage alive through its events, social gatherings, and dedication to preserving the spirit of classic transport for future generations.<\/p>\n
