He’s been a police officer since the age of nineteen, spending the majority of his service in operational roles before retiring in 2005 after 30 years of service. He lives with his partner, Belinda, on the outskirts of Preston but has used his experiences in and around Blackpool as the basis for 31 of his popular crime novels, featuring Detective Inspector Henry Christie. He appeared at Palatine Library<\/strong><\/a> in Blackpool for an event promoting his books on 1 September 2025.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]His career as an author began in 1996 with A Time for Justice, and since then he has published dozens of books.<\/p>\n

Henry Christie series:<\/strong> Oldham is most famous for this long-running police procedural series, which follows the career of Detective Superintendent Henry Christie. The books are known for their authenticity and often feature Christie returning from retirement to solve cases. Some titles in the series include:

Steve Flynn series:<\/strong> This action-thriller series features Steve Flynn, a former Royal Marine and ex-policeman living in the Canary Islands.

Jessica Raker series:<\/strong> Oldham began this newer series in the 2020s, with titles such as Death at Dead Man’s Stake.<\/p>\n

Other works:<\/strong> Oldham has also written standalone novels, including Cover Story and Made To Be Broken, and novelisations of crime films like Vendetta and We Still Kill The Old Way.<\/p>\n
