Madame Tussauds Blackpool is a celebrated wax museum that opened its doors in 2011. It took over from the former Louis Tussauds Waxworks and now showcases more than 80 lifelike wax figures of celebrities, TV and film stars, athletes, and musicians. The museum\u2019s most recent addition, as of April 2024, is a wax figure of Alison Hammond.<\/p>\n

In March 2010, Blackpool Council and Leisure Parcs struck a major deal to acquire several of Blackpool\u2019s most iconic landmarks. This \u00a338.9 million agreement, backed by both national and local governments, included Blackpool Tower, Winter Gardens, Louis Tussauds Waxworks, and the Sea Life Centre. Merlin Entertainments was selected to manage Blackpool Tower and the newly rebranded Louis Tussauds, which was renovated and relaunched as Madame Tussauds Blackpool.<\/p>\n

The creation of a wax figure is a detailed process that spans four to six months. It begins with research to decide which figures to include. Experts gather extensive details about the selected celebrities, such as their hairstyles, common expressions, and fashion choices. If feasible, celebrities visit the museum for a fitting, during which over 150 measurements and 200 photographs are taken.
