Established in 1867, this magnificent Victorian red-brick building was erected on the site of what was once Claremont Park before its conversion into a hotel. Over its long history, the hotel has seen multiple changes in ownership. It was managed by Barcel\u00f3 Hotels for many years before being taken over by The Hotel Collection in June 2014. In 2017, the hotel embarked on a new chapter when it was acquired by Singapore\u2019s Fragrance Group for \u00a312.8 million. Famed for its striking gold and blue fa\u00e7ade, the Imperial Hotel boasts 180 tastefully appointed rooms. Guests can savour fine dining at The Palm Court Restaurant or relax in the elegant surroundings of the Number 10 Bar, showcasing a harmonious blend of timeless charm and modern amenities. Beyond its role as a luxury retreat, the hotel has played a significant part in broader cultural and political contexts. During the mid-20th century, Granada Television established a studio within the hotel to broadcast coverage of political party conferences held in Blackpool, underscoring the hotel\u2019s prominence in media and political spheres. In 2023 the historic Turkish baths of the hotel were extensively restored by volunteers from Blackpool Civic Society.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Charles Dickens<\/strong> stayed at the hotel in 1869. In 1985, <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.wearedeeperblue.co.uk\/history-clone\/thatcher-attends-conservative-party-conference\/\"><strong>Margaret Thatcher<\/strong><\/a> celebrated her 60th birthday there. In 2002, US President <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.wearedeeperblue.co.uk\/history-clone\/kevin-spacey-bill-clinton-tony-blair-attend-labour-party-conference\/\"><strong>Bill Clinton<\/strong><\/a> and Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.wearedeeperblue.co.uk\/history-clone\/kevin-spacey-bill-clinton-tony-blair-attend-labour-party-conference\/\"><strong>Tony Blair<\/strong><\/a> stayed at the hotel for the Labour party conference.<\/p>\n<p>The Imperial has also been a sought-after venue for conferences and private events, welcoming numerous illustrious guests over the years.\u00a0Adding to its cultural relevance, the <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.wearedeeperblue.co.uk\/history-clone\/george-formby-society-attends-blackpool-convention\/\"><strong>George Formby Society<\/strong><\/a> hosts its conventions at the hotel four times a year, further cementing its reputation as a hub of tradition and celebration. In the 1970s, the Imperial Hotel\u2019s ballroom gained fame as a vibrant live music venue, hosting legendary performances by influential bands such as <strong>UFO<\/strong>, <strong>Judas Priest<\/strong>, and <strong>Joy Division<\/strong>.
