At the time of its inauguration, it was celebrated as the tallest man-made structure within the British Empire. Standing at an impressive 518 feet (158 metres), it was inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris and remains an enduring symbol of innovation and entertainment. Today, it ranks as the 125th-tallest freestanding tower in the world. Blackpool Tower is more than just the tower itself; it is the focal point of the Tower Buildings, an elaborate entertainment complex that includes the <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.wearedeeperblue.co.uk\/history-clone\/over-120-years-of-tower-circus\/\"><strong>Tower Circus<\/strong><\/a>, the Tower Ballroom, and roof gardens, all set within a striking three-storey red-brick base. In recognition of its architectural and cultural significance, the entire structure was designated a Grade I listed building in 1973. The pinnacle of the tower, now known as the Blackpool Tower Eye, is the highest observation deck in North West England, situated 380 feet (120 metres) above ground level. Formerly referred to as the Tower Top, it underwent a significant transformation and reopened in September 2011 following extensive renovations. The building work was done by <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.wearedeeperblue.co.uk\/history-clone\/frank-parkinson-founds-f-parkinson-son-ltd\/\"><strong>Parkinson<\/strong><\/a>. Blackpool Council, which acquired the tower, enlisted Merlin Entertainments to manage its attractions. Merlin rebranded the observation deck as part of its global &#8220;Eye&#8221; series, aligning it with attractions such as the London Eye, further enhancing its appeal as a tourist destination.<\/p>\n<p>Queen Elizabeth II visited Blackpool Tower more than once.
