Ranvir Singh is a British journalist and television presenter, best known for her work as a newsreader and presenter on Good Morning Britain<\/em>, as well as for hosting Riddiculous<\/em> and serving as a relief presenter on Lorraine<\/em> alongside Christine Lampard. Born on 11 August 1977 in Preston, Lancashire, Singh hails from a Sikh family whose parents emigrated from Punjab, India, in the 1960s. She has two older sisters. Tragically, her father passed away from a heart attack when she was just nine years old.<\/p>\n

Singh attended Kirkham Grammar School<\/a> before pursuing higher education at the University of Lancaster, where she earned a degree in English and Philosophy. She later completed a postgraduate qualification in journalism at the University of Central Lancashire’s School of Journalism, Media, and Communication in Preston.<\/p>\n

She began her career in 2002 at BBC Radio Lancashire, initially starting as a work experience intern before being offered a six-month contract. Singh then moved to BBC GMR, where she covered the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. In 2005, she joined North West Tonight<\/em>, the BBC’s regional news programme, as a journalist and bulletin presenter. Her national television debut came in 2006, when she co-presented Manchester Passion<\/em>, a live BBC Three drama retelling the final hours of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

On 10 September 2007, Singh became the main co-presenter on North West Tonight<\/em> alongside Gordon Burns. When Burns left the programme in 2011, former BBC South Today sports editor Roger Johnson became Singh\u2019s new co-presenter. While at North West Tonight<\/em>, Singh also regularly presented late-night and weekend breakfast shows on BBC Radio 5 Live. After taking maternity leave in 2012, it was announced that Singh would not return to the BBC, instead moving to ITV to join the Daybreak<\/em> programme. She made her debut on 3 September 2012.<\/p>\n

Singh\u2019s role on ITV expanded quickly. In 2012, she appeared as a newspaper reviewer on This Morning<\/em>. By May 2014, she had joined Good Morning Britain<\/em><\/strong> as a features correspondent and news presenter, working alongside Susanna Reid, Sean Fletcher, Ben Shephard, and Charlotte Hawkins. She also became a relief newscaster for various ITV News bulletins. Later that year, she began reporting for the factual programme Tonight<\/em>, and from 2015 onwards, she guest-presented several Exposure<\/em> specials. Singh hosted Real Stories with Ranvir Singh<\/em> from 2015 to 2016 and co-presented The Martin Lewis Money Show<\/em> in 2016 and 2017, before being replaced by Angellica Bell.<\/p>\n

In January 2017, Singh was promoted to Political Editor for Good Morning Britain<\/em>. She gained widespread acclaim for her coverage of major breaking news stories, notably her calm and composed reporting during the 2017 Westminster attack, which helped the programme win a prestigious Golden Nymph Award at the 59th Monte-Carlo Television Festival for Live Breaking News<\/em>. Her notable reporting assignments include travelling with the Prime Minister aboard the RAF Voyager for visits to China, Canada, and the White House to meet President Trump, as well as live coverage from the scene of the Grenfell Tower fire.<\/p>\n

Singh has also appeared on Loose Women<\/em> as a guest presenter since 2020. That same year, she competed on the 18th series of Strictly Come Dancing<\/em><\/strong>, where she partnered with Giovanni Pernice. The pair reached the semi-finals, finishing in fifth place. Singh co-presented All Around Britain<\/em> alongside Alex Beresford from September 2020, although she was temporarily replaced by Ria Hebden while participating in Strictly<\/em>. In December 2020, she filled in for Lorraine Kelly as host of Lorraine<\/em> during Kelly’s Christmas break, a role she has continued in 2021, regularly presenting in Kelly’s absence.<\/p>\n

Singh’s versatile career and poised presence on television have made her one of the most recognisable figures in British broadcasting.<\/p>\n
