Anthony David Cocker, born on 26 April 1959 in the Borough of Fylde<\/strong>, is a prominent figure in the energy sector. He served as the chief executive of E.ON UK, one of the UK\u2019s \u201cBig Six\u201d energy providers, and is also the chairman of Infinis Energy Management Limited. Cocker attended Kirkham Grammar School<\/a> and has a younger brother. He married Madeleine Parker in September 1991 in Oxford, and the couple has two children: a son, born in November 2000, and a daughter, born in August 1998. They currently reside in Warwickshire.<\/p>\n

Cocker studied mathematics at Lincoln College, Oxford, where he earned a BA in 1981 and a D.Phil. in 1984. His doctoral research focused on the shape of water droplets. In 1988, he furthered his education at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne. His early career began at L.E.K. Consulting, where he worked from 1984 to 1992, followed by a role at Bass Brewery. In 1997, he joined Powergen as head of corporate strategy, and by August 2001, he was appointed managing director of Energy Trading, succeeding Nick Horler.<\/p>\n

Powergen was acquired by E.ON in 2002, and Cocker continued to rise within the company. In 2008, he became the chief executive of E.ON Energy Trading in D\u00fcsseldorf, and in January 2012, he took on the role of chief executive of E.ON UK<\/strong>. After retiring from E.ON in July 2017, he was appointed chairman and non-executive director of the company in August 2017. In April 2018, Cocker joined SSE plc. as a non-executive director, continuing his leadership role in the energy industry.<\/p>\n
