UPDATE: The latest official update suggests the Revoe Sports Village is now expected to be completed by around April 2027.<\/p>\n

In April 2026, Blackpool F.C. stated that construction is expected to begin in August 2026, with completion targeted for April 2027. Earlier reports had projected a January 2026 completion date, but the project was delayed following rising remediation and construction costs, along with redesign work to the scheme.<\/p>\n

The Revoe Sports Village is a major community development project in Blackpool aimed at revitalising the Revoe area with enhanced sports and recreational facilities. It is part of Blackpool\u2019s \u00a339.5 million Town Deal, with \u00a36.5 million specifically allocated for the sports village. However, as of January 2025, the project has faced delays due to escalating costs, prompting a temporary pause for a cost review but is projected to be completed in January 2026. Blackpool Council<\/strong><\/a> is also considering compulsory purchase orders (CPOs) for properties on Henry Street to secure the necessary land for the development. Despite these challenges, the Revoe Sports Village remains a vital initiative for addressing deprivation in the Revoe district by providing modern facilities that encourage healthy lifestyles, social cohesion, and local economic growth. The next steps include finalising construction tenders and resolving cost concerns, with the goal of completing both the sports village and the East Stand in the coming years. The Council has approved amended plans for minor changes to the groundsman’s hut and landscaping.<\/p>\n

In 2022, Blackpool Football Club<\/strong><\/a> was seeking to create a new community sports facility next to Bloomfield Road, supported by \u00a36.5m of government funding. Plans were submitted for two all-weather, fenced and floodlit pitches \u2013 a full-size 11-a-side pitch and an FA-sized 5-a-side pitch \u2013 on a 5.6-acre site immediately north of the stadium.<\/p>\n

The proposals also included changing facilities, parking and new public realm, with the pitches intended for community use as well as the club\u2019s Women and Girls teams. The development forms part of Blackpool Council\u2019s Towns Fund programme and will sit alongside the Foxhall Village housing scheme, now under council control.<\/p>\n

The sports village is a key element of the Southern Gateway area within the wider Revoe masterplan, which also outlines potential stadium improvements and mixed-use development.
