Bunny May was born\u00a0‘Bernard Lawrence May’ in 1940 in Blackpool<\/strong>. He was an actor, perhaps best known for EastEnders (1985), Up Pompeii! (1969), Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em (1973) and for\u00a0the first episode of Going Straight (1985) (see full episode below). He was also in Coronation Street from September to October 1963 and played Ethel Tyson’s nephew Jim Pickup.<\/p>\n

He began his career as a teenager on BBC children’s television in the early to mid-1950s, but later moved into adult roles in series such as Emergency-Ward 10, The Chem. Lab. Mystery, The Liver Birds, Crown Court, Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em, A Sharp Intake of Breath, Shine on Harvey Moon, Duty Free, London’s Burning, The Bill, Birds of a Feather and Wing and a Prayer.<\/p>\n

On the big screen, he had roles in The Wind of Change, Catch Me a Spy and a small part for Hitchcock in his 1972 film Frenzy.\u00a0Stage roles include productions of The Seven Year Itch, Macbeth, The Winter’s Tale, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Caesar and Cleopatra, The Boy Friend, Billy Liar, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Spring 1600, Big Bad Mouse, A Talent to Amuse, On Your Toes and Singin’ in the Rain.<\/p>\n

He married Susan Gayford and retired from acting to run a car-rental business. He passed away on 30 November 2017.<\/p>\n
